Interview timeline
| Invitations released | December |
|---|---|
| Interviews held | Late January to mid-February |
| Delivery | In person (home); online (international) |
Interview invitations are not sent in one batch. Schools release them in waves across the cycle, so the date you hear back depends as much on when your application was processed as on how strong it is.
The biggest change year to year is delivery mode. Many schools moved online during the pandemic; some have stayed online (Bristol, Glasgow, Keele, Nottingham, Plymouth, Aston), while others returned in person (Aberdeen, Leeds, Anglia Ruskin, St George's). Exact calendar dates move by a few weeks each cycle, but the month-level windows below have stayed stable.
Cross-checked for 2026 entry. Windows are month-level and describe the most recent (2026-entry) cycle. Exact dates shift by a few weeks each year and are confirmed only in a candidate's official invitation email. Always treat the invitation as the source of truth. December invites do not follow a clean UCAT cutoff because Liverpool screens on GCSE points first, then ranks by UCAT. In the 2026 cycle parents tracked an invite at UCAT 1820 Band 2 alongside a rejection at 1940 Band 3, with the 1900 to 1950 zone described as a mix of invites and rejections. Do not assume a high UCAT guarantees a Liverpool interview if GCSEs are average.
"DD rejected from Liverpool with 1940 B3...There seems to be a mix of interview invitations and rejections in the 1900-1950 UCAT zone."

In the 2026 cycle, post-interview offers and rejections landed together on the afternoon and evening of 26 March, weeks after many other schools, and parents noted Liverpool was processing offers relatively late in the cycle. Plan for a long silent wait of roughly seven weeks after interview.

Applicants in the 2026 cycle reported the interview rooms were warm but the waiting areas in the crypt were cold, so dress warmly in layers and expect a striking, church-like venue rather than a seminar room.
"The Liverpool interview wasn't too bad according to my DD... describes MMI rooms as warm but waiting areas in crypt as cold; advises dressing warmly."

One 2026-cycle applicant came out convinced she had messed up too many stations and found some interviewers unfriendly, yet received a Liverpool offer in March. Another applicant the same week found it not too bad, so demeanour varies by circuit and is a poor predictor of outcome.
"DD had her Liverpool interview yesterday and wasn't happy with how it went, feels she messed up too many stations and some of the interviewers were unfriendly."

Not every post-interview rejection gets the waitlist email, and you only learn if you are actually on the list after the late April opt-in deadline. A deferred offer after a near miss is a real Liverpool quirk worth knowing about.
"Based on last year's data, the interview score required for an offer was 316/360, those scoring 300-315 were given a deferred offer, and those around 250-300 were asked if they wanted to be put on the waitlist... only those on the borderline hitting their interview score threshold get the waiting list email."
The Student Room thread A100 waitlist Liverpool 2025 (snippet-derived, close paraphrase)You will be asked to sign a confidentiality agreement about station content at the interview, and applicants on the forums warn each other that breaking it can have fitness to practise consequences, which is why detailed Liverpool station debriefs are rare online. Expect an MMI circuit covering ethics, teamwork, communication and knowledge of modern medical practice rather than leaked specific scenarios.
"Candidates who have had interviews are typically required to sign a confidentiality clause, and breaking that can have consequences on fitness to practice."
The Student Room, Official University of Liverpool A100 2025 Entry thread (snippet-derived, close paraphrase)Applicants comparing notes across schools reckon Liverpool is one of the harder places to convert an interview into an offer, citing a low interview to offer ratio compared with schools like Plymouth, ARU and Edge Hill. Combined with the crowd-tracked 316 out of 360 offer line, the message is that a decent interview performance may still land you in the deferred or waitlist bands.
"The interview to offer ratio for Liverpool is relatively low, apparently it's really hard to turn an interview into an offer, with Liverpool having the lowest ratio out of universities like Plymouth, ARU, and Edge Hill."
