Interview invitations are not sent in one batch. Schools release them in waves across the cycle, so the date you hear back depends as much on when your application was processed as on how strong it is.
The biggest change year to year is delivery mode. Many schools moved online during the pandemic; some have stayed online (Bristol, Glasgow, Keele, Nottingham, Plymouth, Aston), while others returned in person (Aberdeen, Leeds, Anglia Ruskin, St George's). Exact calendar dates move by a few weeks each cycle, but the month-level windows below have stayed stable.
Cross-checked for 2026 entry. Windows are month-level and describe the most recent (2026-entry) cycle. Exact dates shift by a few weeks each year and are confirmed only in a candidate's official invitation email. Always treat the invitation as the source of truth. 3 insights
Interviewers are commonly described as unusually friendly and low-pressure compared to other medical school interviews, giving candidates plenty of time per station and freedom to develop their answers rather than rushing or grilling them.
"The interviewers were very friendly and helpful, it did not feel like a hostile environment like some of my other interviews. There was plenty of time during the stations and I was given a lot of freedom to speak about what I chose."
The Student Room, Official Aston University A100 2025 Entry Applicant thread (search-snippet paraphrase)Final decisions can arrive very late in the cycle, with some applicants on the official Aston threads reporting they did not hear anything until April or May, later than many other UK medical schools.
"Aston had late replies in like April/May."
The Student Room, Official Aston University A100 applicant threads (search-snippet paraphrase)Because Aston never publishes an official interview cutoff, applicants crowd-track it themselves each year by back-calculating from outcomes; recent estimates put the combined academic-plus-UCAT threshold at roughly 31.5 out of 36 for standard applicants and around 31 for contextual applicants.
"The cutoff last year was 31.5 (non-contextual), 31 (contextual)."
